Exciting show making waves already

One of the organisers working with the Hill 112 Memorial Foundation is concerned that some people have misunderstood the thinking behind our Forties celebration event planned for this September. He has asked us to publish this letter:

On behalf of the Hill 112 Association I would like to clarify the situation regarding our Forties show at Betteshanger Park on 11 & 12 September.

It would appear there are rumours circulating that our intention is to start a rival show in direct competition to the War & Peace Revival Show. A show, incidentally, that I and my family have been going to for the past 25 years.

Let me lay out the facts below -

Most importantly, John and Annie, who run the War & Peace Revival, are both great personal friends of mine, have always been keen supporters of The Hill 112 Memorial Foundation and have offered their help and advice regarding our show. We in turn have invited John and Annie and very much hope they are free that weekend to attend our event.

The aim of the show is multi-layered, primarily to raise funds to further both Albert Figg's dream and the film which has been commissioned that tells the epic story of the battle for Hill 112.

Secondly, to tell the wartime story of Kent, both militarily and in tribute to the vital role played by the Kent miners and civilians, and to get as many people in the re-enactment and military vehicle fraternity together to enjoy the weekend, interact with the public and see all their old friends again after the awful time we have all been through.

The clue is in the title - We WILL meet again

Hope to see you all there

Best wishes

Michael Whiteley
